We had big plans with lots of camping trips this summer, but they didn't happen for one reason or another. While Cindy was in town, Shelby planned a weekend away for us up in Heber. When I told Lexi in the morning that we were going camping, she was thrilled. She had no idea what camping was, but she was thrilled and asked about a million times when we were going to go camping.
The Mower's didn't come up because it was the first BYU game of the season (And Jeramy listened to it for as long as he got reception into the mountains). There is something so therapeutic about being in the mountains with that fresh air!
Lexi was not disappointed by "camping" she loved everything about it. Where we were camping was open range for some cows. We could hear them "mooing" over and over all day and all night. She was terrified that a cow was going to get her.
And I have to say that when we were little girls, we were expected to just "do our business" in the bushes. These granddaughters get their own privacy pop up. Spoiled rotten!
Lexi had a hard time falling asleep because of those darn cows. She kept talking to me and Jeramy about the cows. All. Night. Long. She finally crashed around 10:30 while I was rubbing her back. Then got up about 73 times throughout the night.
The big girls got to sleep in the trailer with Cindy and Shelby. Apparently they had a squirrel in there with them that ate through the plastic and munched on our breakfast muffins in the night.
In the morning she insisted we go for a ride on the 4 wheeler to find the cows. I had forgot her helmet, so she had to wear one of the big kid ones. She kept that hand on it the entire time. So heavy! We rode for about a half hour with no cows spotted. We turned back into our campsite just in time to see the cowboys on horses herding a bunch of cows around. Made Lexi's day.
My Aunt Beth and Uncle Dwight were camped right next door. It was fun to see them and their children while we were up there. Love this picture of my mom helping my aunt get back to her campsite. That uneven ground is hard on old ladies. Kerry made sure to go help my mom get back to our campsite.
Macie loved driving the 4 wheeler around. She really loves to be out in the mountains. Maddie and Lindsay - not so much.
So grateful we were able to get away for the weekend. Grateful for my family and all my parents do for us. (Like making countless trips up there to get both trailers and all the 4 wheelers up there AND bringing the porta potty).
