Egg drop of 2015

One of the joys of having kids one year apart in school is getting to do the same activities again just the next year!

Last year, Lindsay's egg didn't survive the drop off the school.

This year, Macie's did!  We put it in a box with tissues, then put balloons all around it.  Floated right down and did just fine!  This is one of my favorite activities the school does.  I love to see all of the different ideas that kids (and parents) come up with.

It's great to be...10!

 Lindsay wanted a glow in the dark friend party this year.  It was super fun (but too dark for many pictures).

 And of course she wanted Texas Roadhouse for her birth-meal.

 And for the first time ever, she didn't give me a list of what she wanted for her birthday.  I was totally on my own buying things.  I think I did all right.  (I hope she agrees).

Preschool

 I did a joy school co op this year with a few other moms.  It started at our house.  Lexi was super excited and I was, too!

 They are all only 3 years old.  (Lexi is the oldest).  And there's a HUGE difference from last time I did this with 5 year olds!

But we are having fun and (hopefully) learning a few things!

Behind the wheel again!

I was told that at my doctor's appointment on August 17th, I would be given a form to take to the DMV to get my license back.  (3 months post surgery).
We went to the appointment and asked for the form.  She told us we were supposed to have gone to the DMV and got the form and brought it to her.
What.  The.  Heck.
I was angry.
We left and went to the DMV.  Got the form and took it back.  The nurse was too busy to fill it out.
I was more angry.
I left it and the receptionist told me that they would just fax it to the DMV for me.
I waited a day.
Called the DMV.
They didn't have it.
I waited a day.
Called the DMV.
They finally had it and I was given the go ahead to drive.
It was glorious!
(and it was the first day of school so I got to go shopping with only one kid).

Back to school

 Maddie started junior high this year!  Wow!  (And she leaves at 7:30, which is way too early for us).  She is loving it and doing great in all of her classes so far.

These two have their classrooms right next to each other.  They think that's pretty cool.  They are also doing great and they love their teachers.  Lindsay has the same teacher Maddie had.  :)

I have to say that because I couldn't drive, we really didn't do any back to school shopping.  

None.  

No new backpacks, or lunch boxes, and only one new outfit.  

Guess what?

They survived.  

The big cut

Macie had the most beautiful long hair.
But it was hard to brush and she hated me brushing it.
So she had Amy cut it off.
And she donated it.
And we all love it short!

My tummy hurts...

Lexi had a rough summer of telling us that "my tummy hurts!"  She was up a lot at night which means she was sleeping a lot during the day.

In really random places.  (She's asleep under those sunglasses).  First time it was a UTI.

Second time it was undecided.  Third time was undecided as well.
She's still taking probiotics and miralax.  And we've taken her off dairy which seems to help.
(This picture was while I was teaching piano.  She fell asleep right by the front door and never woke up even as students climbed over her).

Poor kid.  Poor mom.

Butterflies!

 2 years ago, I got Macie butterflies for her birthday.  She loved it!  Last year she asked for them, but it was too hot and the company in California couldn't mail them.  This year she asked for them again and they were actually shipping them!

 It showed that there would be a delay in shipping, so I ordered them early.  Too early.  They came a week before her birthday.  I hid them in my closet and checked on them everyday.  It was fun watching the caterpillars grow.  (And I felt a little bad that she wasn't getting to see them grow).

She did get to enjoy a few days with her caterpillars before the went in their chrysalis.  So fun to see them change into butterflies!

Steele Camp - 24th of July

 My dad works at the Capital doing security during the Legislative Session every year.  He make a "small" amount of money by doing so.  This year he used his earnings to buy himself a slice of land.  It's not very big, but it's his and he's had a blast making it his own.  He's left his trailer and 4 wheelers up there all summer and goes up weekly for some alone time.

 We had big plans of going up a lot - until I had my surgery.  We only made it there once.  He has set up lots of fun things for the kids to do and it was a nice day.

 Lexi loved playing in the dirt (and grandpa has now made her a sandbox for our next trip up).

Excited to use Steele camp more next year!
