Lagoon

Last year at Lagoon

This year at Lagoon! Maddie was tall enough to ride the good rides! (She didn't even need the high ponytail with the big bow to make it). She rode the white roller coaster twice, the swings twice, and the Bat. Jeramy was trying to get Maddie to do a "thumbs up" but she wouldn't. I had to laugh when I got his thumbs up in the picture!

Top 10 things about our day at Lagoon:

1) It was totally free. Free admission, free parking, free lunch. Thanks, 4Life!

2) We got to hang out with the Weeks all day

3) Maddie and Lindsay were tall enough for the rides.

4) Grandma Jean came and got Macie after lunch so we didn't have to take turns on rides.

5) Jeramy went on a man-date with Jake at 4 and rode the scary rides that I wouldn't do.

6) No sunburn for anyone!

7) Jer - Wicked

8) Heidi- Rattlesnake Rapids

9) Maddie - The Swings

10) Lindsay - the Merry go round giraffe

10 worst things about our day:

1) allergies!

2) waiting in the wrong line for a shake

3) paying $4 for a little shake (I'm used to my $4 shake from JCW's feeding us all plus the neighbors).

4) Jeramy - Cliffhanger, he got too wet

5) Heidi - Skyride. I took Lindsay and Maddie and I am terrified of heights. I was a nervous wreck the whole way! I was squeezing both of their legs and they both kept saying, "let go, Mom!"

6) Maddie - Tidal wave

7) Lindsay - Tidal wave

8) Macie - Puff

9 &10) There really wasn't anything else that was bad about our day!

Oh, happy day!

I remember as a child looking forward to the day my parents would FINALLY put the pool up. It always seemed like they waited too long! This past week every day, I was asked by Maddie, "Mom, has Grandpa put the pool up yet??" Over and over again. When we went up to Grandma's on Thursday, I asked Grandpa what the hold-up was on the pool. He quickly pulled out his iphone and showed me his calendar for the week.
Mon: 4 wheeling
Tues: 4 wheeling
Wed: 4 Wheeling
Thurs: put up pool.
The girls were soooo excited! My favorite part was Safety Girl Maddie wearing her life jacket - in 2 inches of water! I also love that my 16 and 17 year old nieces are right there with the kids playing in the water - they even sqeezed their tiny little bums into my kids' swim shorts! Wow!

It takes 2 days to fill the pool up, and a month to get the water warm. Then it's time to change the water. We learned that the pool holds 5,400 gallons of water. Glad that's not my water bill!

We are looking forward to many fun filled days in Grandma's pool this summer!

Da Zoo

We told Madison that it was "Her Day" after graduation and she could decide what we did. She decided that she wanted to go bowling. So we went to the zoo. On the way to the zoo, we told her that she could choose where we ate lunch. She chose Training Table. We went to Wendy's. We are terrible parents.

We decided on the zoo because it was a Thursday afternoon and most of the state is still in school and it wasn't that hot. Good choice! It was so much better than the last time we went to the zoo. Not very busy, and not too hot!

We actually got to see the Bird Show for the first time and I think we all loved it! At the end they have trained the birds to take your money and put it in the donation box. Of course we had to donate a dollar, and I was totally surprised that it was Lindsay who wanted to do it.

Macie went right up to the gorilla picture and put her arms out - it's almost like she's seen this picture a million times or something. The funny thing is that she would not let any of her sisters stand by her or have a turn.

And the Lion drinking fountain...ummm...germs. I really hope it's been sanitized at least once since I used it in the early 80's. Jeramy tried to get a drink out of it and quickly said, "Um...I'll just wait."

All of the girls wanted to ride in the stroller. Wow! That's about 90 pounds to push up the hill behind the giraffes. I didn't make it and finally had to ask my buff husband to take over. He laughed and said, "This is nothing!" 5 minutes later, he asked for help from his strong and beautiful wife.

The picture of Macie and the snake still freaks me out a little. She loved it. My little Slytherin girl. YUCK.

We ended our trip with the train ride that seems to get shorter every time I go and then the toys in Discovery Land. We really had a great time, and I'm glad I can put a big "Check" next to that activity for the summer.
