Dev Mountain

During the summer Jeramy heard about this programming boot camp.  It's a relatively new thing and growing quickly.  The idea behind it is that if you go get a 4 year degree at a university, by the time you graduate and get a real job in programming, the things you learned will be outdated already.  This is a 3 month course that teaches you the latest and greatest programming trends.  He felt that it would be a good idea for him to take it and learn some new abilities, so we bit the bullet and signed him up.  Classes were Tuesday, Wednesday Thursday and Saturdays downtown.  He would ride trax straight from work there, so the kids wouldn't see him for days at a time.  He got home at 10 (or later if he missed the train).  He was always exhausted but had so much fun learning (and being the smartest kid in the class - most people didn't have any programming experience).
He created an awesome app that I hope he'll actually put up in the app store eventually.  He was pretty proud of himself for accomplishing what he did - which I wouldn't even know how to describe since it makes no sense to me.  :)
For their "graduation" they held an open house night for the students to show off their apps/webpages.  It was for family, friends, people looking at going to the school AND companies looking for new talent to hire.  Jeramy's boss came to see if he could find someone to fill a position that had just opened up on Jeramy's team.  He walked around the room and realized that Jeramy had written the most advanced app in the room.  And he also realized that there were other companies in there that were sure to notice that as well.
Jeramy got an awesome raise and promotion.  :)
